Preparing for Interviews

We had a couple of interesting job interview sessions at recent Rostrum meetings.
  • One of our members had an upcoming job interview and he had been unsuccessful in his previous attempt at getting a job with this organisation
  • a member was attending an interview required for acceptance at a selective school
We looked at the resources in our club.  The club has a member who is a recruitment consultant. He ran a 10-minute session on interviews. We also have a number of members who are currently in management positions where they are involved in the selection of staff from time to time.

We set up an interview panel using these experienced members.  We then ran the interview in a couple of ways:
  • the member was interviewed by the panel
  • experienced club members were interviewed for the same position
This gave our applicants a new perspective on ways of dealing with questions and we were able to discuss the process, their performance in the interview and ways to focus on aspects that the interviewer is looking for.

The power of our Rostrum community!  Identify and use your resources to meet your members' needs.

The tutorial is on www.rostrum.com.au in the member section.
